Joyner 5K 2021 FAQ
Is there a group event this year?
There is no group 5K event this year. Due to social distancing and group event guidelines, this year’s 5K will be virtual. But don’t worry, you don’t have to log into a Google Meet and mute yourself to participate.
How does someone run a virtual 5k?
This event will look different for every family. Feel free to get creative. You can run, walk, bike or anything really! You could also jump rope, hike at a park, do some yoga, play basketball or soccer, crab walk around your home, or do 5000 jumping jacks (or less, nobody is counting).
Remember to please practice social distancing with whatever healthy practice you choose!
What’s the best way to participate in the 5K this year?
We think the best way to feel more connected to other families at JYJ this year is to post some photos on Facebook or Instagram. You can use the hashtag #jyj5k and on 5K day, keep an eye on that hashtag for other Joyner 5K photos.
If you have a shirt, make sure you wear it loud and proud. If not, feel free to make signs, dress in your fav workout gear, or do some washable face paint to get in the spirit.
Do I need to register or is it too late to register?
The 5K helps to fund the numerous PTA Programs throughout the year that benefit every child. If this past year has shown us anything, it’s that we have the best teachers and staff anyone could ask for! While normal registrations are over, you can still make an open donation at the link below. Every bit helps!

I ordered a t-shirt, but haven’t gotten it yet.
Our t-shirt pickup was a few days ago, but if you get in contact with Amber Lueken Barwick (contact info in email) she’ll get it all figured out.
I’m not feeling very motivated right now, you have any ideas?
Oh boy, do we. Here’s a motivation playlist hand-curated by your friendly PTA. It’s full of motivating, positive songs with a couple cool down tracks at the end.
Our annual JYJ 5K is back on Saturday, May 1st!
We still have to do this virtual-style to keep us all safe, but we are bringing back the t-shirts! Whether you run, walk or bike, it’s always more fun in your Joyner 5K swag.

You can show your support by registering for the 5K for your child or family members as usual and snag your t-shirt. There is also a link that allows any other amount of donation.
To ensure you get your t-shirt, you must register by Tuesday, April 20th.
Additionally, if your family or business wants to sponsor the JYJ 5K, complete the Sponsorship Form by April 13th. We will showcase our sponsors on the t-shirts!
We hope that you will join us on May 1st by participating in the 5K by choosing running, walking, biking, or anything! This event will look different for every family! Wear your new Joyner 5K swag or Joyner colors while participating and take photos to share on the Newsflash!
