Be a Joyner Joiner! Join the PTA and make your No Fuss Fundraiser contribution. We don’t ask you or your students to sell wrapping paper, popcorn, candles, etc. Rather, we hope that you will join the PTA and then make whatever donation you can to help us cover the many wonderful things that the PTA does for our school including the following:
- Joyner Jamboree
- Backpack Buddies
- Book Fair
- Cultural Arts Programs (e.g., performances, Author in Residence, etc.)
- Girls on the Run
- JYJ 5K
- Jag Wear
- Yearbook
- Science Go Round
- Odyssey of the Mind
- Science Olympiad
- Spelling Bee
- Study Buddies
- Summer Reading Challenge
- Student events and celebrations (e.g., fifth grade graduation)
- Enhanced classroom technology across the school
- Touch-less water bottle filling stations on campus
- Mini-grants for teachers to bring new ideas into their classrooms
- Student awards and recognition, including publication of student writing
- Sets of books for teachers to use in class with students
- Improvements to school grounds
- Appreciation events for teachers and staff
- Advocacy efforts at the county and state levels to support policies that benefit students in our public schools
You can join and donate online through Givebacks, or you can send your membership form (which will be sent home with your student), dues, and donation with your student to his or her classroom teacher for submission to the PTA. If you have any questions about membership or the No Fuss Fundraiser, please contact Leslie Mize.
Basic membership (which includes school, state, and national PTA dues) is only $15 for up to two adults in a household. Any donation that you make above the basic membership fee stays in our school to support our programs. Dues and donations are 100% tax deductible. Please consider asking your employer if there is a matching donation program where you work. And don’t forget to ask grandparents or other family members — every member and every dollar allows us to do more for our kids.
Every household that joins the PTA for the 2024-2025 school year will get a Joyner stadium cup! Cups will be available for pick up at Meet the Teacher on Friday, August 25; at Kindergarten Meet the Teacher on Friday, September 1; and at future dates.
Thank you for your support!
Membership Myth-busters
Four major misconceptions about PTA membership often prevent parents from joining an association that helps our children:
Myth #1: “Only moms and teachers need to join PTA.”
A strong, vibrant PTA needs the support of moms and dads, step-parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, teachers and school staff, community members, and business leaders. Anyone who cares about children belongs in PTA. It is important that we all have a voice in the decision-making process that affects children.
Myth #2: “Joining PTA means I have to volunteer.”
You do not have to volunteer to be a member of PTA! PTA appreciates everyone’s membership, whether or not a member volunteers, because each member increases PTA’s ability to advocate for children.
Myth #3: “PTA membership never expires – I only have to join once.”
Each new school year begins a new PTA membership year. Membership cards are issued to each member who joins PTA as soon as dues are paid. Membership cards are for an annual membership and will remain valid until the end of the school year.
Myth #4: “I don’t have the time to join PTA.”
We understand your time is valuable. However, it’s your interest in children that counts. If you are not able to support the PTA with time, please become a member and give your financial support so that the children know that you support our efforts. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that your support helps as we develop programs and activities that benefit not only your children, but all children.
