The 12thAnnual JY Joyner 5K Run/Walk

JY Joyner Elementary School’s 5K Run/Walk aims to teach kids about the benefits of making healthy lifestyle choices –- and raises money to fund annual programs for our 700+ student body. Over the past eight years, more than 3,500 race participants have helped fund PTA sponsored programs such as:
- Character education
- Battle of the Books
- Campus beautification
- Science Go Round
- First in Fitness
- Technology updates
- Upgrading multi-media equipment…and so much more
It’s time to register you and your family for the annual JYJ 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, March 26 2023 at 2:00. This event will take place at the school once again this year, starting in the back parking lot and proceeding to the Greenway adjacent to Kiwanis Park, before turning around and heading back to JY Joyner.
Your registration includes the JYJ 5K t-shirt and a race bib. Packet pickup will be Saturday, March 25, at 10:00 – 12:00 at Omega Sports in North Hills. Packet pickup will also be available on race day.
All registrations will be done online through the registration link below.
March 15th is the deadline to register to guarantee your JYJ 5K t-shirt, so be sure to get those registrations in! Students and JYJ staff get a reduced registration fee.

The race is produced by race company FS Series. More information, including a course map (which is slightly different this year due to some Greenway construction), is available at https://fsseries.com/event/jyj-5k/register/. All funds raised go to the JY Joyner PTA to fund the amazing events and programs sponsored by the PTA for all JYJ students and staff.
The JYJ 5K Run/Walk is one of the PTA’s biggest fundraisers. The PTA supports all kinds of amazing programs and events for our school community, such as mini-grants for teachers, groundskeeping efforts, Science-Go-Round, the Cultural Arts Program, the Joyner Author’s Guild Publishing, and much more. The 5K Run/Walk on March 26, 2023, is the grand finale event of our month-long Healthy Choice Marathon, which celebrates healthy minds and bodies by encouraging students to read, eat well and exercise daily.
There are many ways to participate and show your support:
1. Register to run or walk in the race!
2. Sign your student up for the free Afterschool Run Club. Please see the News Flash for the currently weekly registration link.
3. Sponsor the race through a family donation or business donation.
4. Donate during the final week’s Classroom Challenge – each class will compete for prizes.
5. Volunteer in a variety of ways – we’ll need people to help during the race itself, but also to help out with the Afterschool Run Club and the Classroom Challenge.

While 5K Run/Walk registration proceeds cover the cost of the race, that is not the primary source of income for this fundraiser – that income comes exclusively from sponsorships and Classroom Challenge dollars. Sponsorships starts at $250 and go up to our Presenting Sponsor level of $5,000, with several levels in between.
