Did you know fitness is fun and contagious? JY JOYNER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S 5K RUN/WALK aims to teach kids about the benefits of making healthy lifestyle choices— and this year we are raising money to create a softscape play space with enhanced play equipment and a rooftop terrace garden behind the school.
Last year we had over 500 race participants.The 5K Run/Walk on May 19, 2019 is the grand finale event of our month-long Healthy Choice Marathon, which celebrates healthy minds and bodies by encouraging students to read, eat well and exercise daily. Not only do we urge kids to make healthy decisions, but we help them prepare for the 5K Run/Walk by hosting a four-week afterschool running club free for all students.
