Joyner Foundation Update: Kona Ice Truck for End of Year Farewell

As a fun way to wrap up the school year, the Foundation has arranged for the Kona Ice truck to be at Fallon Park from 3pm to 5pm on Wednesday, June 9th.  We would love to have you join us for some end of year fun with families and friends to say farewell to this school year and welcome to the summer! 

KONA ICE Truck:

  • WHERE: The Kona Ice truck will be parked out by Fallon Park right around the corner from school at 2401 Oxford Road
  • WHEN: Wednesday, June 9th between 3:00pm and 5:00pm
  • HOW: Just visit the Kona Ice truck and tell them you are with Joyner Elementary.  Cash and card payments are accepted!

End of School Year Materials Return & Collection:  

Students will need to locate and prepare to return the following materials:  

EL texts and your math manipulative kits (from your child’s materials bag). Please see the following link for what needs to be returned:  Materials Collection

Families who have WCPSS hotspots will need to return them to school by 6/11; they can be returned sooner if you no longer need them.  WCPSS laptops do NOT need to be returned if your student is attending a WCPSS school next year. 


JYJ Outdoor Ceremony and Celebration for 5th Grade Students

5th Grade Families … We are excited to host our final day with our JYJ’s with an in-person outdoor ceremony.  

Due to safety restrictions, guests will be limited as we still must adhere to contact tracing guidelines. 

At this time, we will host two classes at a time for each ceremony. 

  • 9:00- 9:45 (Mrs. West and Ms. Brook’s classes
  • 10:30- 11:15 (Mrs. Sawyer and Mrs. Wilcox’s classes)

We look forward to celebrating our amazing 5th graders! 

June 10th- 5th Grade Celebration Details

  • 8:45 am- Parade in the Building
  • 9:00-9:45 am – Moving Up Ceremony for Mrs. West & Ms. Brooks
  • 9:45-10:15 am – Pictures and Transition
  • 10:30-11:15 am – Moving Up Ceremony for Mrs. Sawyer & Mrs. Wilcox
  • 11:15-11:45 am – Pictures and Transition
  • 12:00-1:30 pm – Lunch & Fellowship (under the overhang); Limited Approved Volunteers due to restriction guidelines
  • 1:30-3:00 pm – Classroom Closeout

Fourth Grade Refresher: July 19-23 and 26 -30

First Grade Refresher: Aug 2-6

Get Physical with Mr. Poyer and Get Crafty with Ms. Cameron!

PE Camp – Come spend an active week playing our favorite games, as well as learn some new ones.

Crafty Concoctions Camp – Campers will use science, art and culinary skills to create fun projects.

Spirit Rock is now OPEN

The Spirit Rock continues to be a fun way to celebrate birthdays, teachers, holidays, graduation, etc. and the Joyner Foundation is excited to open up the dates for next year (July 2021 – June 2022)!  

You can reserve your date(s) on Memberhub but you MUST pay for them at the time they’re reserved!  Also, please remember that you can only reserve two consecutive days at a time with the exception of the last week of school which is reserved for our graduating 5th graders!
